---- Pictures of Samuel and Mary BROWN, etc.

CFG-c. Mary MALTBY, b. June 5, 1744, (Dan.3, Dan.2, Wm.1). She is mentioned in the will of her father as "Mary, wife of Samuel BROWN, of Goshen." (Town Rec. Goshen) "Feb. 16, 1765. Samuel Brown and Mary Maltby."

Mr. Nelson D. Adams of Wahington, D.C., well known professional genealogist, wrote:

"Mollie Maltby lived in the Northern part of Litchfield County (probably Caanan or Norfolk) and had several children." (She was his great-grandmother).

A letter from Daniel (5) Maltby of Saybrook, Ohio, dated "April 8, 1880" to Nelson G. Adams' father, states: "Aunt Molly as I re- member her was not a tall woman, quite fleshy; had a bright, pleas- ant countenance, a full round face and was active and healthy.

They were of Goshen in 1776. Who the "several children" were in not known to me, only one, Rebecca Brown.

It seems to the compiler that the 2nd marriage to a Mr. Judd of Pompey, New York, might account for several descendants talking and writing about our "Maltby cousins, the Judd's of Honolulu."

In 1896/7 while in Europe, my Grandmother Maltby, of New Haven, wrote us, "Your Judd cousins from Honolulu are here in Yale and trying to find you." Mrs. Cushman and Mrs. Page also wrote me of the relationship. As I recall it, Dr. Edward (?) Judd was a Missionary to Honolulu, and one of his sons became in after years, Governor. One was Louis, as I recall it. While in Paris we knew the father of Princess Kialani, and Judge and Mrs. Schaeffer, all from Honolulu. They knew the Judds quite well. Many years later I wrote to one of the sons but he seemed never to have heard of any Maltby ancestry. These Judds were from New York State and as I recall it, from Pompey.

    Child.
CFG-ca. Rebecca BROWN, b. ----

The last time I saw her she lived with her second husband--Judd, in Pompey, New York.

Uncle Brown was an original character and his sayings were often quoted.

Aunt Mollie was my father's sister and their mother's name was Harrison before marriage.

My grandfather Daniel "Maltbie" married a Harrison. I do not know her name, although I remember her distinctly. She died at my Father's about the year 1797."
